We live in a world saturated with stories, then one day along came the web and suddenly anyone could design, write for and contribute to a mass of websites, and storytelling got lost in the mix. This needn’t be the case though. Storytelling is the most powerful way of organising and communicating information so it lends itself nicely to the web, we just have to think of more appropriate ways of telling stories online and this can be achieved in several ways.

Of all the entertainment innovations of the past decade, I think Netflix is the most fascinating to me. While I would probably not go out and buy the DVD collections of every television series I enjoyed in my youth (except “ Hawaii Five-o “, all seven available seasons of which I have ordered in advance on Amazon the day they were listed), I happily add them to my Queue, staggered at appropriate intervals around the comedies, dramas and sports highlight films that populate the rest of my list. “The Odd Couple,” “Barney Miller,” “Taxi” and “Get Smart” are among those I have added and of which I have watched just about every available episode. One of the first ones I added when I saw that it was available was “ Emergency !” In my preteen youth, the exploits of Station 51 made for the original Must See TV. I even had to have the board game , no matter how inane it was (red, green, blue and yellow fire engines responding to Emergencies! in different parts of the cardboard-flat city, as I recall). In the mid-70’s, the era before video games, play-acting the adventures of Gage, DeSoto and the firefighters and doctors was a daily staple. Sometimes, you go back and watch a program that in your youth, you thought was the best thing ever, and it just doesn’t hold up. “ The Greatest American Hero ” is like that for me. Other than Robert Culp , who is outstanding as Bill Maxwell the G-man, and Connie Selleca , who is, well, Connie Selleca , the show’s writing and stories are quite awful, even for a fantasy program in which you check your sense of reality at the remote

This week’s customer story comes from a gentleman from North Carolina who bought tickets from us last year to see Jersey Boy’s .This was the first time he had used us and was so pleased with the great seats we got him last time he wanted to see if we could help him again. I asked him what show he wanted to see and he told me that his wife has been begging him for years to take her to see Wicked . He told me that they were coming in again around the same time and asked what we had.
