(click to embiggify, and truly understand) Yeah, It’s That Good The strikingly beautiful and wonderfully kind April has arrived, and is eating a breakfast of Temecula strawberries, Irish Oatmeal, and buttermilk. This afternoon my dear friend “Chaplain Charlie” is coming to grab some perfectly fresh fish stuff at the legendary Point Loma Seafood. So, despite the insanities that seem to mount with every new day, the looming crush of debt devaluation, the stupidity of a media empire which, while Obama and Putin meet for the first time and actually begin to make some progress on arms control devotes an entire coverage day to Micheal Jackson’s funeral (done on L.A.’s broke ass dime).

Frequent flyer programs are sometimes seen by some airline executives as additional costs to bear. In the same way, travel clients oftentimes wonder how airlines can offer free flights or first class travel discounts to customers that accumulate frequent flier points. In reality, frequent flyer programs serve not only frequent travel customers but also serve the airlines and their affiliates, such as hotels, credit card issuers and other travel destinations, in the form of valuable customer travel information

Manny Ramirez put on a show Tuesday night against the Mets at Citi Field and it was worth every cent of the price of admission. From the moment he stepped into the batter's box to a venomous chorus of boos in the first inning to the moment he walked off the field as fans cheered his ejection in the fifth, you couldn't take your eyes off him. It was only the third contest since baseball's newest outlaw completed a 50-game suspension for use of a banned substance, and time away hasn't cooled the tear he's been on since the Red Sox dealt him to the Dodgers last July 31.

Bed bug reports are on the rise, says a recent Crain’s New York article covering the upcoming meeting offered at month’s end to the tourism industry group’s 1,000 members.
URUMQI, China – Scattered mobs of Muslim Uighurs and Han Chinese roamed the streets and beat passers-by Tuesday as the capital of China’s Xinjiang region degenerated into communal violence, prompting the government to impose a curfew in the aftermath of a riot that killed at least 156 people. Members of the Muslim Uighur ethnic group attacked people near the Urumqi’s railway station, and women in headscarves protested the arrests of husbands and sons in another part of the city.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to see Billy Elliot in London or on Broadway yet, maybe you will have an upcoming occasion to treat yourself and someone you love to one of the best shows ever to play on a live Broadway stage. Billy Elliot takes place during the turbulent economic times in England during a coal minors strike during the 1980′s. In Billy Elliot, we are witness to a small coal mining town on the brink of starvation after being out “on strike” for nearly a year with no end in sight.

In the burgeoning e-reader battle for dominance in the nation’s hotel chains, one model seems to be emerging as the device of choice, among boutique hoteliers at least. The news that Kimpton’s Epic Hotel in Miami began offering the Sony Digital Reader to guests today through its Epic Page Turner program puts the e-reader solidly ahead of Amazon’s Kindle in the race to infiltrate hotels with digital reading material. While the Algonquin Hotel in Manhattan is currently the only hotel we can find offering guests use of Kindle readers, Sony Digital Readers are available to guests not only of the EPIC, but also to those staying at Gansevoort properties Hotel Gansevoort , Gansevoort South and Gansevoort Turks & Caicos .

In previous years you had to know exactly when the All Black tickets from STIL were going on sale because you would be lucky to get onto the overloaded website and snag a few tickets before they all sold out. This year however the tickets have been available for several days and only 3 of the available 18 packages have sold out. Possible reasons for this could include: Credit crunch Availability of tickets from the host nations like Italy and France Packaging of tickets into bundles that fans didn’t want e.g.

Two papers at last month’s meeting of the American Association of Wine Economists in Reims (this is my second of two articles about the conference) investigated this question with respect to the wine industry, which is, if not a microcosm of all consumer-products industries, at least an increasingly apt caricature of them. While creative adjectivism has long characterized the wine world, the practice in other taste industries — chocolaty coffee, metallic fish, grassy honey, peaty whiskey — is now ascendant.

This is a show that I wanted to hate as I sat down in the theater with a big puss on my face that eventually turned into a great big smile and huge belly laughs! That show is “Ave Q”!! 9 to 5′s Ann Harada , who created the character of Christmas Eve in the surprise Tony Award-winning puppet musical Avenue Q (it beat out Wicked for best musical in 2004), returns to that role in the acclaimed production at Broadway’s Golden Theatre tonight, July 6. The 8 PM performance tonight also welcomes several cast members from the shows recent national tour: Anika Larsen (Xanadu, All Shook Up, Rent; Shafrika , the White Girl) is Broadway’s new Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut, Robert McClure (I’m Not Rapport) assumes the roles of Princeton/Rod and Danielle K. Thomas plays Gary Coleman.

In completely unsubstantiated-yet-still-intriguing celebrity travel news, Courtney Love reportedly trashed a hotel room at Manhattan’s The Inn at Irving Place (pictured below). According to the New York Post , Love and her daughter Frances Bean overnighted in the hotel on June 17 and, in just eight hours, managed to flood the floor they were staying on and left all manner of questionable paraphernalia in their wake. The damage to the hotel apparently reached the $5,000 mark.
