Join La Raza In Stopping The Hate Speech

(“I Remember Mama” by Xavier Viramontes ) Join La Raza In Stopping The Hate Speech The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) are fighting back against the Right Wing racist, sexist smear campaign which is designed to permanently tarnish the reputation of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. In addition to statements in every venue they can reach, they’ve set up an online petition to demand leaders of the Republican Party stop these hate-based attacks. I’m going to copy in below the e-mail I received from them.

That, plus the new uniforms, and we may have a whole new era of Jacksonville football on our hands. I’m not so sure that the old era wasn’t better

Penguins and Red Wings in Stanley Cup Rematch

PRINT ARTICLE For the first time since 1983/1984, the Stanley Cup Championship will be a rematch of the previous year’s. In the 2007-2008 finals, the Red Wings won the series four games to two and sent the pride of the NHL, Sidney Crosby, home without any hardware. Detroit has a chance to extend their dynasty further if they can repeat.  Detroit has won four of the last 11 championships, and has made the playoffs every year since 1990.

The Junior Miller Wedding Ghost – Explained

The ghost of Miller’s past showed up in a wedding photo and Junior Miller Man talked about it today. Supposedly there was no way someone was tall enough to show up in that picture. They talked of it possibly being a “ghost” and all that jazz, however, I found the full picture from that day

Jose Canseco’s New Career… Or Not

As Jose Canseco’s career is as rock bottom as it gets, he really is looking for a new nitch and for some reason, I don’t think it’s in MMA.  Two nights ago Canseco’s MMA debut took place in Yokohama, Japan against super heavyweight Hong Man Choi .  When I first watched the video of this fight, it took me a while to realize what I was watching.  Canseco whose 6’4 jacked up body is familiar to most sports fans, appeared dwarfed to this giant.  Choi stands at 7’2 and 330 pounds and made the roid-child squirm throughout the fight. However, it would be tough to call this a fight as it lasted a mere 1 minuet and 17 seconds.  Canseco attempted to fight at the bell but quickly realized he was overmatched in every way possible.  By the 45th second, he was running around the ring avoided the stalking presence of Choi who injured Canseco’s knee by simply taking a kick from the poorly trained Athletic.  After the knee went, the fight was done.  Choi was able to land a solid left jab that knocked Jose down and finished with a ground and pound fury of fists

BREAKING: California Supremes uphold h(8), existing marriages

According to the SF Chronicle , the California Supreme Court ruled 6-1 to uphold Proposition 8, but also decided that the 18000 or so gay marriages performed are valid and will remain so. This is exactly the slicing and dicing predicted by many commentators. The RWAs can remain happy in their ability to remove fundamental rights from an oppressed minority, the progressives can remain happy that nobody had their marriages annulled

    Sotomayor for SCOTUS

The background press release is out : Sonia Sotomayor has served as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit since October 1998. She has been hailed as “one of the ablest federal judges currently sitting” for her thoughtful opinions, and as “a role model of aspiration, discipline, commitment, intellectual prowess and integrity” for her ascent to the federal bench from an upbringing in a South Bronx housing project.
